Scores of local residents have successfully raised money to help restore a ”much valued community notice board” outside Montagu’s Church of Asension, Creighton Ave.
The Community Notice Board was vandalised in June this year and put out of action. Now thanks to a fund-raising initiative organised by the church’s Father Malcolm Hall – a new noticeboard has now been purchased.
Kenton businessman and Labour Party Branch Secretary Brian Dickinson stepped in and installed the new noticeboard free of charge.
Father Malcolm Hall of the Church of Ascension said:
” We’ve finally have a new notice board in place. Thank you to everyone for their kind donations allowing us to buy it. And a big thank you to Kenton’s WDL Building Contractors for giving their free time to install it. This is community spirit as its best.”
Kenton resident Brian Dickinson said:
”Our company – WDL -was more than happy to help the church to erect its new notice board after act of vandalism. We know its an important link to the local Montagu and Kenton community and provides useful info about coming events at the church.”
