We, the British public, the electorate, have at least three parties which are all vying for the votes of one particular demographic of voter. This is the voter who hates foreigners, asylum seekers, migrants etc but loves flags and displays of uber-patriotism.
Making an easier choice
I believe that it is time to make our choice easier. Do we really need the Labour, Conservative and Reform parties competing to see who can be the most cruel and the most unwelcoming to outsiders?
It would save time, money and indeed be much more efficient if we consider amalgamating these parties under a new umbrella.
It would be a simple procedure to carry out:
- Assess the political stance and beliefs of the parties.
- Do a time and motion exercise.
- Identify from 1 and 2 where posts and ideologies are being duplicated.
- Amalgamate, streamline and consolidate the parties.
- Consult with party leaders on the timescale of reorganisation
- Set up procedures for affected personnel to apply for the new posts.
- Put into action.
We would not need to negotiate terms with the parties as there isn’t any collective bargaining procedure to implement.
No compensation or indeed redundancy payments would be necessary.
All in all, I believe that this is a win-win scenario. The media would only have to pander to a single party and leader rather than the three they currently do. Most importantly, however, it will be much easier to make a considered choice at the ballot box. Voters wouldn’t need to take time and effort to separate the three parties based on how right wing they are…because it is really close. A micrometer would be necessary to tell the difference.
The new party name could be RECOLA, with a new logo of a Union Jack on a background of ‘no entry’ signs.
A seismic change, I agree, however I put it to you that it may be the sensible thing to do…
