Sometimes you hear something that just resonates, just works. Today this was me with the new single Dreams of Peace by Rachel Ashley.
The song engages from the start, with a warm, beautiful, and slightly intriguing opening. I found myself drawn in. And then Rachel started singing and wow, what a rich and soulful voice. Gorgeous!
Melody and lyrics
The melody is simple and haunting and fits perfectly with the lyrics.

It’s a song that has mysticism, an ethereal feel, and a message of female support and empowerment.

Musically, it has elements of jazz, folk, and eastern music – all enhanced and supported by the very wonderful Helena Summerfield on saxophone.

Rachel says:
“It’s about how female cooperation is a real antidote to the destruction of humanity. How women naturally work together, and not try to compete, for the good of us all.”
She describes the song as “An anthem for our femininity. For everyone and each of us.”
And it really is.
