Coping with addiction in the family can be difficult and lonely, as I know from personal experience. I lost my older daughter, Helen, in 2018 following an overdose of opiates.
Props NE
Helen had struggled over many years with mental health and addiction problems which finally got the better of her. More recently some dear friends have lost their son in similar circumstances. The charity Props NE offers much needed support to families impacted by substance abuse, but I wasn’t aware of them when I needed help.
In October 2019, one year after Helen died, I put on a concert which raised £1,500 for this charity, and I thought that it was time to do something again.
Harmony for Hope
On Saturday 13 June we will be holding an informal music afternoon, ‘Harmony for Hope’ from 2.30 pm – 4.30 pm at St Cuthbert’s R.C. church, Albion Road West, North Shields.
Tickets are £6 and £4 for concessions. There should be some available at the door, but they are also available on Eventbrite. Hopefully events like this will raise awareness that there is help out there, as well as raising funds.
