I don’t think you’ve ever known, really, how I felt from the start
I refused to admit how you made a home in my heart
I remember, though you don’t, the first night I met you
Funny to think back and know I didn’t have a clue
It was dark, it was crowded, you shone a torch in my eyes
I’ll never forget the impression you left with me that night
You took me out to the skatepark, I remember it clearly
How we sat there and laughed and made chains out of daisies
You lifted my chin, put your hand on my cheek,
Let me feel in that moment I was allowed to be weak,
You kissed me, only lightly, but you made my heart glow.
I knew from the start, but I still wouldn’t let you know.
I saw you some more, you came day after day,
I was shocked for a while that you wanted to stay
But you burnt down my walls that I tried to uphold
Kept the warmth from that flame and let me be bold
I thought I knew what I wanted, but I wasn’t expecting you
You let me learn to love, and in return you loved me too.
