Sharpening their scissors,
they come snipping at the soft skin
of the vulnerable among us
who are out of sticking plasters,
having squandered their allowance
on luxuries and trinkets
like heating and food.

And isn't it funny how words
can lose their fineries in translation,
how tax the rich
becomes attack the sick -
so funny we're all crying.
