Every now and then, I am able to think of my old home town with genuine love and pride. In common with many other English working class towns, over the past year or two the streets have been ‘decorated’ by people hanging St George flags from every possible lamppost. In particular, the streets leading to the Riverside, home of Middlesbrough Football Club.
This month, the club in partnership with local businesses and the council, responded by hanging flags from every corner of the world. These are based on countries we have played in and the nationalities of current and past players and they look great.
