Bring on the winter solstice
Let the sun roast the sleeves
Of our frozen overcoats

Bring on days long as time
Let them lengthen the stride
Of their spring heeled stroll

Bring on a change of weather front
Bring on shared food and a toast
To the least at last receiving the most

Bring on late into the night talks
Bring on hearty handshakes
Babysteps towards big bearhugs

And come the stark light of morning
Bring on the whispered sound of birdsong
And the deepest breathing as it dawns
That the slam and roar of bombs is gone
