A Newcastle care home got into the coronation spirit as residents decorated royal-themed cakes and reminisced on previous monarchs’ coronations. Several residents at Eothen Care Home in Wallsend recalled Queen Elizabeth’s coronation, and some were alive for King George VI’s crowning in 1937.
They chatted about their coronation memories as they decorated red, white and blue cakes ahead of the big day on Saturday.
One of Eothen’s staff brought in a copy of souvenir programmes from both Queen Elizabeth II’s and George VI’s coronations, to help stimulate conversation!
