With the cost of living growing weekly, eating out is probably one of the first luxuries to go from your monthly budget. We recently dined out at Bella Italia and was pleased to discover that it need not cost a fortune.
Set course menu
With the Set Course menu you can have two courses for £15.45 or three courses for £18.95. If you decide on the Mozzarella Garlic Dough Balls you will find a scrumptious starter that will set you up for the main event.
For mains you can choose from a wide selection that includes Bolognese, Carbonara, Lasagne, Pepperoni Pizza and the one I chose – the Vegetarian Pizza that was served piping hot with enough toppings to satisfy any diner. Red peppers, spinach and roast red onion on a cheese and tomato base finished with a balsamic glaze. Perfection on a plate indeed.
If you need your palate clearing then I recommend the Gelato; 3 scoops of ice cream that was not watery but extremely creamy. With flavours such as Salted Caramel and Liquorice amongst others there are plenty to choose from.

Carne Calzone
For something completely different and new my dining partner tried the Carne Calzone, what looked like a big Cornish pasty is actually a folded pizza stuffed with ltalian sausage, pulled ham hock and crispy pancetta. Priced at £14.79 it is not cheap but would be ideal for sharing. The verdict was that it was a very unique taste that brought back memories of happy holidays in Italy.

If you want that real Italian experience then a drop of Limoncello, an Italian liquor from the south of the country will add to your dining experience. Best downed in one it might make your eyes water!
Service was quick, friendly and attentive. Hopefully you too will enjoy your visit that will not break the bank.
Kids can eat for £1.00 all summer too from Monday to Thursday between 4pm and 6pm. This includes 3 courses and a drink.

You can visit Bella Italia restaurants in Newcastle (Eldon Square), the Metro Centre and in Darlington.
