Indie rock band noyou is back with another high octane single packed with nostalgic vibes and fresh hooks. Hailing from Sunderland, these energetic upstarts have been turning heads since their inception and took 2020 in their stride with live stream performances and no less than four excellent singles to further broaden their soundscape.

Spotlight Music UK said of noyou:

“The band has those pop vibes you can hear in your head for days.”

And GIGGOER described them as:

“A band that begs to be played on repeat”

Having already anchored themselves firmly within their regional scene through shows at established venues such as Riverside (Newcastle), Independent (Sunderland) and The Cluny (Newcastle), the band is raring to go and eagerly awaiting the return of live music. Last year, noyou also received an endorsement in a sought after ‘Tipper of the Week’ collaboration with Tipping Point thanks to BBC’s Lee Hawthorn. The band also featured on a monthly BBC Introducing playlist.

Now, noyou are doubling down on their electronic infused rock formula for Underneath The Pain. Written by keyboardist and backing vocalist Joey Campbell, the song evolved following a process of sharing demos over lockdown, before being refined by Connor Jobes’ production and mixing. Describing the meaning behind the track, lyricist Joey explains:

“The track explores feelings of insecurity in relationships, as well as holding yourself to a standard no one can possibly achieve and beating yourself up when you fail.”

Noyou consists of Connor Jobes (vocals/guitar), Joey Campbell (keyboard/vocals), Ryan banks (bass) Sam Thoburn (guitar), Chris Keepin (guitar) and Brad Davison (drums)

Comfortingly retro yet undeniably modern, with an energy and vibrancy this new release feels like a triumphant statement of intent from noyou as they prepare to take on the new year.

You can find Underneath the pain on spotify or apple.
