Local residents in Byker in Newcastle’s East End have been working hard to bring food, drinks, gifts and good cheer to those in need this Christmas.  On Boxing Day (26th) they will distribute beautiful gifts and a freshly prepared three course takeaway meal. This will take place in Byker Community Centre. Details of timings are below.

There are volunteers from I Love Scarborough Road CIC and gifts have been donated from the people of Saint Peter’s Basin, St Michael’s Church the book shop, Seven Stories , Ne14.tv, Newcastle United Foundation and local residents. An impressive list!

Today the  Food Poverty Project volunteers under the supervision of Food Ambassador, Penny Walters, are hard at work lovingly preparing the delicious food. Donations of food have kindly been given from Fareshare North East, Foodcycle, the Magic Hat cafe, Newcastle, Iceland, Greggs and Morrisons.

This is a truly community effort and the team hopes to bring some light and love in this difficult year and really make a difference in Christmas 2020.

The food and gifts will be distributed at Byker Community Centre on 26th December  between 12 and 2pm, or 4-5pm.
