Here's to some grammar
in a glamour-bent world,
here's to the learners
before top-end earners.
To those who keep us right,
safe between the commas,
give me scientists and experts
over flighty prima donnas.
There are no cancer cures
to be found in screechy soaps;
laboratories before oratories
by made-up dullard dopes.
Give me hospital wings,
actual useful things:
doctors, professors
before pink over-dressers.
A drink to all those
who know when to close
a poem veering off into a strop.
Here's to a full stop.
