The summer seems to have finally arrived at last after what so far has been a very wet, cloudy, and dreary summer. PizzaExpress have just launched a new summer menu, so what better excuse is there to pop along to your local restaurant to discover some very tempting surprises.

Pizza and Dough Balls

In keeping with the warmer weather the introduction of the Dynamite Dough Balls (£7.65) ponders the question “can you handle the heat?” Fiery chilli, garlic and basil salsa are cooled down with a side garlic and herb dip. You might like to have a cook drink on the side too. I tried the new Peach Sparkle (£4.75) which might be better still served cool but without the ice as this seemed to dilute the flavour.

If you like mushrooms then the new Mushroom Arancini (£7.85) might take your fancy though I am not a big fan of them , I do however adore cheese so the decision to try the new Double American Cheese pizza  (£18.25) was an easy one. With twice the amount of pepperoni and plenty of mozzarella this was a very guilty pleasure.

Ice Cream Sundae

The perfect addition to the new summer menu are the new indulgent desserts include a feature of everyone’s favourite biscuit: a Biscoff Billionaire Sundae (£7.45). This decadent treat is created with Biscoff’s signature Lotus biscuits and sauce, creamy vanilla and salted caramel gelato, finished with chocolate sauce and whipped cream – a delicious finale to any meal.

Those with a taste for the sweet life will also delight in the refreshing Summer Berry and White Chocolate Sundae, (£7.45) which combines smooth vanilla gelato, tangy mixed berries, and a sweet berry coulis, topped with lashings of whipped cream and white chocolate curls – the perfect mix of sweet and sharp, I found.

Those who dine at PizzaExpress this summer can also join the PizzaExpress Club, providing incredible rewards every time customers dine, from Dough Balls at Bronze to free children’s meals and more at Gold.
