McDonalds scores highly with new World Cup menu

If you are old enough to remember when a Big Mac really was big and very filling, then the Sweet Carolina BBQ Stack might bring back memories

With many football fans caught up in the fever of the World Cup McDonalds has begun their own campaign for the competition with The FIFA World Cup Meal and two new burgers which have been dubbed Tastes of the Tournament.

Something savoury

The first of these is the Sweet Carolina BBQ Stack burger two 100% British and Irish quarter pounder beef patties with cheese, bacon, crispy and grilled onions, lettuce and delicious sweet Carolina BBQ sauce, all in a freshly toasted bun.  If you are old enough to remember when a Big Mac really was big and very filling, then the Sweet Carolina BBQ Stack might bring back a lot of memories- it did me as I found this new limited edition satisfied any big appetite and is a choice that I would make again.

The other new addition is the Mexican Chipotle Chicken – 100% chicken breast in a crispy, crunchy coating, served with chipotle mayo, smoky rich sauce, slivered & crispy onions, lettuce and a white cheddar cheese slice all in a freshly toasted bun that comes with the top of the bun looking like a football!

Lovers of spicy food will enjoy this hot style burger – so hot that at times it was hard to distinguish the taste of the chicken when I sampled mine.

Also new are the Crunchy Cheese Bites Fancy a cheese pull with a savoury blend of Mozzarella and Gouda in a crunchy breadcrumb coating, served with BBQ dip. Maybe a little too stringy for cheese lovers with the taste of the Gouda taking a back seat to the strong Mozzarella flavour.

The Big Mac sauce makes a re appearance which I thought was equally as good for dipping your fries in as opposed to being served on a Big Mac.

Desserts

A dessert worth the final whistle comes via the  Galaxy® Chocolate McFlurry® consisting of a soft dairy ice cream swirled with Galaxy® chocolate pieces and topped with a Galaxy® chocolate sauce! Or why not indulge in a Galaxy® Salted Caramel McFlurry®the same Galaxy chocolate goodness, with a salted caramel sauce – both tasted creamy with the Salted Caramel version scoring highly as far as taste goes.

Part of the promotion also includes a World Cup Meal where a collectable cup is offered when ordering a Big Mac, McPlant or 9nineMcNuggets under the World Cup banner.

Lasting until 13 July there is still plenty of time to strike high with these new additions.
