The Middlesbrough-based business group VAS has donated £1,500 worth of toys and £500 cash to Mission Christmas, a nationwide charity drive to make a difference this December to children living in poverty.
With 2020 proving a hugely challenging year for many, all 20 staff at the businesses comprising the property valuation related audit and assurance group chose to use the company’s annual festivities budget to support the Cash for Kids initiative in their local North East region. The nationwide charity Cash for Kids supports children and young people affected by poverty, abuse, neglect, life-limiting illness and those who have additional needs. Their Mission Christmas scheme aims to give Santa a helping hand by supporting the one in three children living in poverty, who are at risk of waking up to find no gifts on Christmas Day. Drop-off points for donated gifts for children in each area covered have been set up all over the country, as well as an online donation system through which contributions can be made to the national scheme.
Gina May, joint co-founder of VAS Group and local businesswoman, said: “I’ve always said our staff are fantastic, and for them to donate the company’s £2,000 festivities budget to charity, and then take real time and effort to select the toys for Mission Christmas has made all the management team really proud.”
