Kids Planet Day Nurseries, an award-winning nursery group has revealed its acquisition of a nursery in Durham.

Kids Planet, a family-owned nursery group has revealed its acquisition of Do Re Mi Day Nursery in Durham.

Clare Roberts set up the nursery group in 2008, because she struggled to find childcare that had flexible hours.

Since then, the group has acquired a total of 156 nurseries across The UK.

The previous owner

Before being passed on to Kids Planet, Do Re Mi Day Nursery was owned by Dr Jane Todd.

Dr Jane Todd, former owner said:

“Do Re Mi has been a very important part of my family’s life. We set it up from scratch, all our three children have attended, we have expanded twice, achieved an ‘Outstanding’ Ofsted, and awarded the Curiosity Approach Accreditation. I am so proud of these achievements and in particular the amazing team who are so hard working and passionate about early years education.

It has been an incredibly hard decision to pass on the baton, but we know we found the right buyer in Kids Planet. Kids Planet put us at ease, and we are confident they are the best people to continue the high-quality care and education that has been instilled, look after our team and families, and take the nursery to the next level.”

The setting

Do Re Mi Day Nursery is an imaginative place that gives children learning opportunities.

Kids Planet believe the setting of the new nursery aligns excellently with their approach and focus on ‘awe and wonder’.

Clare Roberts, CEO at Kids Planet Day Nurseries, said:

“Their ethos focuses entirely on the children and on relationships with families, and I see lots of similarities with Kids Planet’s own approach. The nursery will strengthen our presence in the North East area, and I look forward to supporting the team and families as they join our group.”
