Tees Valley is to share up to £30mn with nearby East Yorkshire & Hull region to support their work on clean energy and industrial decarbonisation.
Local partners will work with UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) to design projects which target this investment, building on existing local strengths, said the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT).
The investment would help to fast‑track ideas from prototype to market, back collaborative R&D, attract expert talent, and open up clear routes to investment and new markets.
Tees Valley and East Yorkshire & Hull would work separately on a powerful programme to bring together the strengths and opportunities across them both, said the DSIT.

The grants are among the latest from the government’s £500mn Local Innovation Partnership Fund. Investment of up to £20mn each is also going to the South West, Oxford-Cambridge Growth Corridor, Greater Lincolnshire, West Wales and East Midlands.
