More people are beginning to be infected with the XEC Covid variant. There are multiple symptoms to identify it and many ways of prevention.

The Covid pandemic has come to an end, but the virus still persists. Recently, people have begun to be infected with the XEC Covid variant.

Symptoms

In a recent BBC article it is claimed that the symptoms are similar to those suffered from a cold or the flu. The symptoms include the following:

  • High temperature
  • Aches
  • Tiredness
  • A cough or sore throat

The article also notes that “most people feel better within a few weeks of Covid but it can take longer to recover”. It also highlights that there is “far less routine testing than before, making it difficult to know how much Covid might be around”.

Vaccinations

It was also reported that being vaccinated reduces the risk of contracting long Covid by four times. At present, only the most vulnerable are eligible and anybody else wishing to be vaccinated must pay at least £45, as was reported by the North East Bylines in March. Currently, there are only two pharmacies in the North East who are said to offer jabs.
