Farage, Trump and Johnson: how they treat their own

Look at how they treat their own. How many Trump supporters have been left miles from anywhere after Trump’s Coachella rally, in the cold, the dark, no toilets, albeit without the discrimination you’d expect from Trump as the old and infirm have been dumped as readily as everyone else, as the buses used to shuttle them from their cars to the venue (five miles) weren’t there to take them back.

Maybe it was in response to ensure no repeat of previous rallies where ‘supporters’ paid to be photographed cheering en masse have left after a few minutes, this time Trump made sure no-one could leave. At all. Even when it was over.

But he left them to freeze in 2020, too. He treats his international friends as badly as the hoi polloi, ignoring even those who’ve flown halfway round the world to be by his bedside, as Nigel Farage found.

Nigel Farage

Still, Farage has got previous for this. Days after the referendum he flipped a finger to those who voted Leave based on the “£350 millions for the NHS” idea. In the run-up to the 2019 general election he stood down half of his Brexit Party’s parliamentary candidates – some having paid out thousands for their campaigns already – in his deal to get Boris Johnson in No. 10. He avoided this candidate backlash in 2024 by having fictitious candidates stand. Now he’s seemingly abandoned the very constituents who supported him.

Farage did not give a farthing of support for all those who took to the streets with torches (literally) so mysteriously fired with anger in the curiously monickered #FarageRiots, fired by information that Farage blamed on his mate Andrew Tate. Of this ilk pokes Tommy Robinson into having a go at Nigel for being full of it, but Robinson also is known for doing a bunk on his own, jumping in a taxi on Armistice Day as his co-thugs took on the police.

Boris Johnson

The most prolific is Boris Johnson, most famously over his ‘oven-ready deal’ but really anyone he’s ever laid eyes on, including those he’s laid, those he’s married. The one time we might believe him is now his professed regret for ever having apologised over Covid – ‘I’m only sorry I ever said sorry’ belying the sole truth of the man. He is a narcissist. They all are.
