As I at some point must have strayed into looking up American far-right podcaster Nick Fuentes on Facebook, I might even have just lingered on a discussion he was having with journalist Tucker Carlson. Fuentes is America First and outright, openly, explicitly, hates Jews, and now he’s all over my video feeds, so I’ve shared one or two and may do more. Why? Because his views are so disgusting it needs to be seen, he is also at the most extreme end of MAGA, and being only 27 with a growing audience, he’ll be around for some time.

Manufactured outrage

Meanwhile, other pages purportedly closer to home are appearing and conveying the themes of migrant bashing, flag raising, AI videos of huge, angry crowds cheering on angry, shouty demagogues. What’s noteworthy is how often these pages have changed name and purpose (one starts out extolling Sri Lankan cooking), where the people that run these pages are actually located (patriotic Brits in the US, Nigeria, South Korea, UAE, Vietnam?), and how recently many been set up (a lot since this summer). This is the genuine definition of manufactured outrage.

The Epstein Files

This is all as Congress, the US Senate, and even Trump himself have secured to release the Epstein Files and all the information about the extraordinary world of international depravity – and we mean, base depravity, the sex trafficking of children – that Epstein and his partner-in-crime Ghislaine Maxwell set up and managed. This has caused the MAGA-press in the US to backflip into paroxysms of panic, ‘do we report this, how do we report this?’ and for even the most MAGA-like of MAGA people, Marjorie Taylor-Greene, to out and demand the files be released come hell or high, earning her the vitriol of Trump and death threats from her (up to last week or so) the most trenchant on the MAGA side.

Jon Stewart on the Daily Show leads a shocking summation and takedown of the desperation of the right/far-right in dealing with this, while others may be bewildered and saddened by those so prepared to stand outside hotels in the rain and berate the brown-skinned as possible rapists when it appears the world has long been run by precisely such kinds, the rich and powerful who’ve benighted these protesters’ lives while profiting from the wars that created these refugees. But if you watch the Daily Show link from about 19 minutes in, what’s striking is the extent of Epstein’s list, the range, how people of all colours, hues, religions and outlooks yet fell within the purview of Epstein’s connections if not charm, including many in Trump’s circles, there and here, but as many beyond, and many opposed. Michael Wolff, Saudi crown prince Mohamed bin Salmon, Larry Summers, Woody Allen’s wife, Prince Andrew, Ken Starr … ‘Democrats, Republicans, silicon valley billiionaires … At a certain stratosphere the petty differences of class, race and religion, fade away, where left and right, Jew, Arab, and Christian, the ultra rich and ‘oh my God is that a rocket? rich find common ground, and show us we can live in peaceful coexistence. It would be almost beautiful … if not for the sex trafficking part!’

And then you think, yes, there’s a level at which all these people somehow get on, and with all the rivers of blood about to spilled on the streets by boot boys stirred up by fake news, AI, et al, we are all being played. So violently, viciously played. All of us.
