Nigel Farage and Reform UK do not stand up for Britain

They call themselves ‘Reform’ and have the name of our nation in their party’s title. They pose next to the union flag and boast about British interests and safeguarding our citizens and sovereignty. They would ‘reform’ our nation and save us from corrupt politicians. They are nothing but liars, charlatans and fakes. Behind their masks lies the flesh of corrupt capitalists, exploiting ordinary working Britons for their own greedy gain. As their membership is alleged to surpass that of the Conservative Party, let’s take a look at the real face of Reform.

Law breaking law makers

“Law breakers can’t be law makers.” Well of course they can’t, that would undermine our very democracy and trust in politics. Labour leader of Basildon Borough Council, Gavin Callaghan, is right but he isn’t talking about Boris Johnson. Rather, the Reform UK MP for South Basildon and East Thurrock, James McMurdock. McMurdock was convicted for assaulting a former girlfriend nearly 20 years ago.

Law breakers, can’t be law makers.

This is a deeply disturbing story about our new MP in South Basildon and East Thurrock. If Reform UK knew about his criminal record before the election, why were they not honest about this with the public? https://t.co/53QBthMjEx

— Gavin Callaghan (@CllrCallaghan) July 12, 2024

No transparency here as he didn’t come clean during the election. No safety for our citizens in that a former assault convict was allowed to stand for parliament with his conviction kept secret. And it’s all very well for party leader Nigel Farage to say “he wasn’t vetted” but that points to one of two things; a lie to cover up their knowledge and to save their skin or gross incompetence at Liz Truss levels given they didn’t bother to check their own prospective parliamentary candidates.

Foreign funding

It’s no breaking news that Farage spends more time in America at Republican Party rallies than he does in the UK, let alone his own constituency. It’s no secret that his best pal has an open loathing for the UK government and threatens our nation with sanctions on a regular basis.

So, let’s instead talk about foreign funding. The leader of the Reform UK Party, or limited company as they actually are, is cosying up to the American billionaire and owner of X – formerly Twitter – Elon Musk. The far-right and controversial figure of Elon Musk is reportedly considering donating up to $100million (£78million) to Reform UK. That figure may well be speculation by the media, but donation negotiations are reportedly taking place. A far-right American billionaire potentially donating to a far-right UK political party to ensure its success. That sounds a lot like election interfering to me, does it not? What happened to sovereignty? Will Farage hold true to his alleged beliefs in British sovereignty and turn down this foreign donation?

No break for the animals

And, on this year’s festive day of Boxing Day, where does Farage choose to announce his party’s/company’s latest membership/shareholder figures? At a Boxing Day Hunt.

The Boxing Day Hunt, where the rich ride on horseback and rejoice in an army of dogs savagely ripping defenceless foxes to shreds. They revel in the suffering of a living creature, a living creature that has done nothing to hurt them in any way. They call it sport. Barbaric, don’t you think? That’s the kind of company Farage seems to want to keep.

So, listen up. Patriots, people who work hard and feel like you’re constantly betrayed and everyone in-between; if you’re thinking of supporting Reform UK, don’t do it. If like me, you feel let down by the system, if like me, you feel like you’re not listened to and if like me, you feel that our democracy has become a joke but unlike me, you see Reform as the answer; take a long hard look at that answer. Your “champions” revel in the suffering of animals, allow people with convictions to become elected officials and would indulge in foreign donations. I understand the frustration of the two-party capitalist system, I rally against it, but Farage is no solution. Merely, a far worse, problematic alternative.
