We biked through the seasons: Spring, sakura blossom,
 Summer, sardines by the river,
Autumn, volcanic eggs by Hakone Lake,
Winter, snow on Bow Beach. Our twenty-something selves,
 you a black-lashed boy,
me, aka no tanin — a red stranger.
Steeped in tea terraces, we rode
to Ippon Matsu Shrine and made a pledge.
