In part 2 of this feature we focus on two more stalls from the local virtual xmas market 2020: Taylor-Made Parties and My Divine Style. The market, started by Julie Gray and Chloe Baines at the beginning of October with the aim of helping small businesses to work together offers the opportunity for customers to enjoy a Christmas market from the comfort of their own homes.
I spoke to Jill Taylor who runs Taylor-Made Parties to find out about her business. She is offering personalised Santa Claus videos for only £10. One is sent in early December and one on Christmas Eve. They have a highly experienced and DBS checked Santa.
Jill also offers zoom parties, video messages and face times with a princess or superhero which can be for any occasion or even bought as a gift for someone for a Christmas present. There may even be some competitions and extra surprises.
Jill is keen on the idea of supporting other businesses to help us all overcome challenges and move into 2021 with greater optimism. She says: “I love the idea of the Christmas market as I think and hope this year people want to support small businesses and buy locally if they can.“
Karina Winton runs My Divine Style, selling Younique high quality skin and makeup products. She says: “I bought a mascara a few months ago. I was asked if I would like to sell the amazing products. I was unsure at first as I don’t really have a lot of confidence. I made the decision to give it a go. It was during lockdown, so it was something which kept me going. Younique believe in empowering woman. I have gained so much confidence after joining this team. There is always so much help and support.”
Karina is very glad to be part of the virtual xmas market.
“I think the market is a fantastic idea. Because of the current situation we can’t have a traditional market and keep everyone safe. The people running this market have been great in promotion and administration. We’re all small businesses and therefore need access to this market to promote our products.”
