Local Welfare Rights Service for residents within the  Kenton Ward continues to receive funding from the Kenton committee. This is an area that includes North Kenton, Kenton Bar, The Gardens and Montagu. The £4k grant is for 2022-23.

Brian Dickinson, a local community activist said:

“This is a challenging time for many families and households hit by both the impact of Covid -19 and the ”cost-of-living crisis.”

Welfare Rights Service

The fortnightly service, usually carried out at the Kenton Centre on a Thursday morning, will continue to be delivered remotely over the summer period. These sessions will take place on 28 July, 25 August and 8 September between 10am to 12,30pm. Kenton residents wanting help with benefits can ring 277 2633.

The service can help with Universal Credit (UC) for those both in work and out, ESA, DLA/PIP, Attendance Allowance and Pension Credit. We know from experience that many disabled and older people are not claiming AA or Pension Credit which can help with daily living costs.

Kenton and city residents can also contact the City Council’s daily Benefits Public Advice Line (9,30-12,30) on 2772627

or visit Newcastle Citizens Advice based at the Central Library (10am to 12noon).
