Fans flocked to Billingham International Folklore Festival of World Dance to celebrate its return.
The folklore festival renowned in the local area celebrates the beauty of international arts, culture, and heritage.
At this year’s festival performers from around the world captivated the hearts of festival fans with their stunning dances.
The performers
Ensemble Goce Delchev from Bulgaria wowed fans with performances of their fast, joyous, traditional dances and music.
Ballet Tupa Marka from Chile charmed fans with their powerful traditional dances and music.
Ballet La Grana from Mexico performed alongside band Mariachi Rosales from Mexico. Their sensational performances of traditional dances and music amazed fans.
Baranggay from the Philippines thrilled fans with their vibrant lively traditional dances and music.
The theme of Billingham International Folklore Festival of World Dance 2023 was ‘The Dance of Time’, inspired by famous artist Salvador Dali’s artwork.
The festival theme culminated at gala performance ‘The Ode To Time’ hosted at Billingham Forum Theatre.

Pay what you decide
This year the Billingham Festival Board of Directors took into consideration the current cost of living crisis affecting the public and decided to make all Festival Arena performances priced on a pay what you decide basis.
However, eager fans could reserve tickets in advance for £1.
Donations and funding
Billingham International Folklore Festival of World Dance heavily relies on funding and donations to continue and ‘secure its future’.
This year the festival was supported by funding from Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council and Arts Council England.
