Sunderland Empire has announced that Emmerdale antagonist, Michael Wildman, is set to shake genie’s lamp and star as panto baddie Abanazer in Aladdin this festive season from Friday 9 December 2022 – Mon 2 January 2023.
Michael Wildman
Currently at the centre of the drama in the dales starring as villain Al Chapman, Wildman may be best known for his bad boy persona, but has worked extensively across theatre, film and television. The soap star’s plethora of other notable screen credits includes Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Smack The Pony, Liar, Marcella, Death In Paradise, Silent Witness, Extras and Bourne Ultimatum.
Numerous Theatre credits include A Few Good Men (Theatre Royal Haymarket), Welcome To Thebes (Royal National Theatre), Hamlet (Royal National Theatre) and many more.
The cast
Michael Wildman will be joining the previously announced North East Queen of Comedy, Miss Rory, back for a third year running as the glamorous and razor-sharp witty Widow Twankey. Joined by South Shields comic Tom Whalley, our favourite slapstick panto jester back by popular demand, you can be sure you’re in for a fall-off-your-seat fun time.
Aladdin will cast its magical spell on Sunderland Empire’s stage from Friday 9 December 2022 – Monday 2 January 2023.
