Unanswered letters to Matt Vickers, Conservative MP

I am, a “usual suspect” as defined by some MPs. Someone who contacts them quite often, and usually to criticise, complain or have a different opinion. In my case this is because I get quite angry or frustrated, in despair, or sometimes downright furious. I would like to share with you some of my ‘vexatious’ contacts with my MP Matt Vickers, Stockton South.

Specifically the ones he has completely ignored.

              Letter 1 to Matt Vickers

              Dear Mr Vickers,

The cost of living is threatening the livelihood of huge swathes of the British public, and it appears that the government has zero answers to it. MPs got a £2K+ pay rise while the actual people of your constituency are deciding whether they can afford to buy food, cook the food, heat their homes or even afford to bathe.

This appears to be an “I am alright” situation.

We have a PM, who can call up a donor to supplement his income by paying for holidays, renovations etc. A Chancellor who can afford to buy and sell your constituents a couple of times over.

It appears to me that the Conservative Party is completely out of touch with real people and are aided and abetted by sycophants like yourself who pretend to give a damn and then run back to HOC and screw over the majority of us. The reporting says that the only solutions coming from PM is to sacrifice Health and Safety to combat this.

We are without doubt heading into a recession if meaningful action is not taken. Less disposable income means big trouble.

I am in a fortunate situation, in that I will be OK, but I know many people who are going to be in desperate need soon.

Please stop doing food reviews and fluffy animals stuff and do something that is meaningful. By that I mean, do your chuffing job, stop kissing rings and represent the majority of your constituents, not just Yarm and Eaglescliffe.

I appreciate that you do not give  a **** about a significant number of us, as there is either zero chance of voting for you or voting at all. All I see is smoke and mirrors, gaslighting and praying that enough mugs either believe it or don’t care what people like you are doing to look after number one.

Brexit is a disaster, proving that lies, lies and more lies succeeded in making things significantly worse.

A PM who wouldn’t recognise the truth if it stood up in front of him and waved a flag.

I appreciate that honesty and integrity is something you wouldn’t understand or appreciate, however I am sure there are outlets available to explain the meaning, and how to change.

We are literally watching the death of democracy.

              Letter 2

              Dear Mr Vickers,

I appreciate that you either will not reply or it will be a waste of time. However, if I do not let my MP know how I feel then I will be letting myself down.

The title of this email would under normal circumstances be hyperbolic in the extreme. Unfortunately under this government we see time after time examples of the erosion of democratic values. It pains me greatly that you, a local man, not only condone it, but actively support it.

              • Banning protests that you don’t like.
              • Extreme xenophobia and denigrating of migrants (even genuine asylum seekers).
              • Inserting political cronies into roles they have no right to be in.
              • Undermining news outlets even going so far as to privatising Channel 4 as revenge.
              • Undermining judges and lawyers as lefties and enemies of the people
              • Zero accountability for law breaking, and lying by Ministers and the PM.
              • Government Press office deliberately lying to the populace.
              • Any dissension is shouted down as un-patriotic, meaning that you don’t love your country.
              • Having to wrap yourself in a flag to show devotion.

There are so many more examples, but it would take a couple of hours to put them all to you.

The icing on the cake today is Boris Johnson rewriting the Ministerial Code to remove the necessity to resign no matter what one may do.

Removing references to honesty, integrity, transparency and accountability.

              I absolutely despair.

This is NOT in anyway shape or form a difference in political views, this is beyond dangerous. It is unimportant to me the colour of the government that does this, whether it is blue or red, I WOULD be jumping up and down in anger.

              This HAS to stop.

We are slowly drifting to an authoritative regime, a dictatorship possibly, where the beloved leader does no wrong.

I am literally begging you to put your head above the parapet, look yourself in the mirror and tell me if this is what you envision for this country.

What will you do if you lose the next election and these things are normal behaviour? Would YOU protest?

              Letter 3

Vote to refer B Johnson to Privileges Committee

              Dear Mr Vickers,

On Thursday you have an unbelievable opportunity to show you believe in openness, transparency and honesty in parliament.

The majority of the British public believe he is a liar and has deliberately misled parliament. This is the chance to set the record straight once and for all.

I assume you have confidence that he IS an honest man and has done nothing wrong, therefore I would expect you to vote in favour of this motion, if only to shut people like me up.

If, however, you vote against it, I, and the rest of your constituents will assume you already know he has lied and misled Parliament, and are just enacting a cover up.

A vote against this motion will, in my opinion, show that you do not care a jot about probity and honesty in Parliament.

              Letter 4 to Matt Vickers

When did evil become government policy

              Dear Mr Vickers,

Today is a dark, dark day.

The Conservative government has turned a compassionate and welcoming country into a xenophobic and heartless one. Sending asylum seekers fleeing war zones, despotic regimes with terrible human rights records thousands of miles to a country with terrible human rights records is beyond evil.

Can I remind you these are PEOPLE, HUMAN BEINGS.

You have closed every ‘legal’ asylum route, which then forces people to risk their lives crossing the channel. As the Afghan and Ukrainian visa fiascos have shown you will try anything to stop foreigners coming here.

I have listened with disgust your comments on this issue. I am embarrassed and ashamed to have somebody with not an ounce of human decency, a man who wants to break the law putting migrants lives even more at risk by pushing back small boats in the channel as my MP.

When I saw this last night, I have never been so angry and distraught. I struggled to sleep.

The fact you are DELIGHTED about it makes me sick to my stomach. How can you take PLEASURE from this. What sort of evil is in your heart that you take PLEASURE from treating human beings like garbage, as political capital.

Watching you turn my beloved country into a heartless and despicable one almost brings me to tears.

I would love to know why Matt Vickers has not responded to my emails. I believe he has become sick of engaging with constituents that he knows will not vote Conservative. However, to scupper my reasoning, right in the middle of these emails that he has ignored he finally, a month later replied to an email regarding PMS partying and how he felt about it. So I am a bit confused.

I have recently been working in the Sixth Form College that he attended. In every classroom there was a notice saying that the college followed the qualities that are regarded as being British. I wonder if he remembers what they are.
