I am fully aware that our political views are as far apart as the chasm that is the Grand Canyon, and that we have a similar amount of respect for each other. However, on this occasion I am very confident we are on the same page with regard to the NHS always being free at point of use. So, I am hoping you will, as both my MP and also in your position as Deputy Chairman of the Conservative Party you will be able to allay my, and indeed the wider electorate’s fears that the premise of free at point of use Health Services are increasingly under threat from this government.
Sajid Javid, a former Health Secretary has actually said as much, and wants to start charging for access to GPs and Accident and Emergency.
Rishi Sunak also held a meeting with private health care providers and has not supplied any minutes to this meeting, indeed Number 10 has been quoted that no minutes were taken.
Not sure which is worse…
Javid for actually saying it out loud, or Sunak hiding details of talks, why is he not being transparent?
We already have a two-tier Health Service with the wealthy able to access private health care. If the Conservatives start charging for health[care] it will be the most egregious, disgraceful act by any government in my lifetime.
It will not solve any problems; it will indeed make things worse. Disposable income is at a premium in the UK. People are already having to make the ‘eating or heating’ decision. We will have a new dilemma Can I afford to see a doctor or nurse, as well as heating my home and feeding my family? This will just store up problems, minor issues will become major issues. Easily diagnosed illnesses will go untreated. Cancers will not be identified.
There are so many obvious issues.
You have previously said that the NHS will always be free at point of use.
Can you confirm that this is still true?
I would really appreciate an adult and respectful response that this issue deserves.
