The investigative journalist Carole Cadwalladr has posted on X/Twitter the names of journalists killed in Gaza by the Israeli government since 7 October 2023. First published by Al-Jazeera, the roll-call of deceased reporters totals 231.
Cadwalladr commented,
“More journalists killed in Gaza than World War 1, World War 2, Vietnam, Yugoslavia and Afghanistan combined.”
As the Israeli government has barred foreign journalists from entering Gaza since 7 October 2023, it is safe to assume that all or nearly all, of the dead are Palestinian.
In another move to conceal events the internet connection for Gaza has been disabled in recent days.
According to Al Jazeera TV, the Gaza Health Ministry reports that 55,200 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks since October 2023. Some two thirds are women and children.
Since Israel broke the ceasefire in March, 4,821 Palestinians have been killed.
In one day on Thursday (12 June) 52 Palestinians were killed waiting for aid. The Israeli government is using so-called aid posts to lure crowds of starving Palestinians, in order to mow them down in hails of gunfire.
The UK Government, together with Australia, Norway, Canada and New Zealand, has imposed sanctions on Israeli ministers Itamar Ben-Gvir and Bezalel Smotrich for supporting ethnic cleansing in Gaza and its annexation. The ministers will be subject to travel restrictions and financial sanctions.
Fine words, but according to Declassified, Smotrich’s Finance Ministry is the controlling owner of Pearson Engineering. Its factory, based in Newcastle, manufactures mobility equipment for the military.
Declassified also reports that the UK still shares intelligence and provides surveillance support to Israel – making our government complicit in war crimes.
In recent days, reports have emerged that in April last year David Cameron in his former Foreign Secretary role berated Karim Khan, the British chief prosecutor at the ICC for planning to issue arrest warrants against Israeli leaders including Benjamin Netanyahu. He threatened to withdraw from the ICC, warning that the move would result in nuclear war. (4)
Neglected by the mainstream media, some of the crew of the Gaza Freedom Flotilla (fronted by environmental activist Greta Thunberg) remain imprisoned in Israel after their boat The Madleen was seized by Israeli soldiers. Greta is now in Sweden.
A large convoy of protesters travelling overland to Gaza has been intercepted by the Egyptian Government.
And so the genocide continues.
