Greening the economy of Gateshead

The Greening the Economy of Gateshead initiative by Genee (Greening the Economy of the North East) offers local businesses and those within Gateshead Council’s supply chain access to free specialist support to help reduce their carbon footprint.

Training webinars, virtual clinics, and one to one support with an environmental consultant are part of the package of support available to companies so they can meet the challenges of climate change and manage their environmental impact.

iPac

One business already signed up is iPac, a Gateshead-based packaging supplier. Founded in 2016 with a focus on Sustainability, Quality, Innovation, Customer Service and Flexibility, the company has rapidly become a key supply partner for many of the major UK food groups and retailers.

Managing Director Jonny Catto explains why he was keen for iPac to get involved:“

As a company, we are committed to reducing our carbon footprint. We are passionate about packaging, and are dedicated to finding innovative and sustainable ways to solve our packaging challenges.

“We are delighted that Genee and Gateshead Council are offering this free support to businesses so we can look at how we reduce our environmental impact. We have signed up for the free webinars and would urge other businesses, no matter how big or small, to do the same.”

Managing Director at Genee, Jo Holmes said:

“I am delighted that iPac are on board. They are just the type of company who will benefit from the specialist support that we are offering. We have had a great response already to the programme and a number of businesses have already signed up for the free webinars.

“I can’t stress enough why businesses should take up this offer of free training thanks to Gateshead Council. Reducing your carbon footprint can help the planet but it is also good for your business. It can bring huge benefits in terms of efficiency savings, growing supply chain pressures, increased energy costs and customer demands. So come on, what are you waiting for?”

Businesses can sign up here for the free support.
